Aside from the red nose, I was accidentally channeling Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer here. I was, of course, trying to show Rangers pride, but I don’t think that was obvious. But aren’t the MLB pumpkins adorable? It was supposed to be a non-partisan thing in my divided house, but the photo sparked a lot of “Go Giants” comments on Facebook. Since when does MLB mean Go Giants?
And despite my protestations of “Shear the Beard” I had a mini Brian Wilson running around my house. As soon as he put on the costume he decided he looked more like Sergio Romo and so he became a Romo/Wilson hybrid. Which would be incredibly odd, for the record.
@MLB tweeted this earlier today: “Pitchers & catchers reported. Opening Day. No-hitters. #ASG. Walk-offs. Foul balls. Shared good times. Clinchers. Does it all end tonight?” Aside from the not very subtle, “WATCH THE GAME TONIGHT” message, it made me think about what I was doing during this year’s spring training. And this year’s opening day. And this year’s All-Star Break. And made me realize that this season has been going on for a long time and it really is time for it to end. Not tonight, but on Thursday, hopefully. I’m sure I’ll be sad when they make the last out- whoever wins- but I’m already pumped for the 2011 season. Lots of games going on every day, winners and losers. I miss games where the announcers don’t say, “I know I’ve said this before, but this is a must-win.” I’m excited to watch the last- ahem, last three- games of the Fall Classic and then I’m going to devote all my energy to getting excited for April and a time when Jon Miller and Dave Flemming broadcast together. I miss that.
