Day One in Snowflake Earrings Retrospective: Black Friday Wishlist filled with Rangers Toaster, “Don’t Ask Me, Ask Barry” Tees and More

I am in a good mood today.  It’s Day One in snowflake earrings.  I have these snowflake earrings I adore, but I only wear them from the day after Thanksgiving ’til the beginning or March or so.  I am savoring every day.

So here I am, sitting with my laptop  checking store websites to see if there are any good deals.  So far: nothing.  Nothing that incites me to scream and click “checkout”.  Not even anything that incites me to scream under my breath.  I am disappointed in Black Friday.  It strikes me as a bit like Body Scanner Opt-Out Day… way media hyped and not really that huge a deal.  Correct me if I’m wrong, Black Friday-ers!

Anyway, just because I’m not buying doesn’t mean I’m not oogling some stuff.  So I decided to make my holiday wish list.  Baseball themed holiday wish list, that is.  I’m telling the people in my life to buy me silly things like an Evenstar necklace pendant and a Sephora 30 color eye-shadow palette.  But this list is just a lot of things I don’t need (I do need an Evenstar pendant, you know) but think are adorable and worth staring at for a few minutes.  And a few things I think are too funny not to share.

(I would also like to note that I currently have a Cubs Christmas tree ornament.  It’s a little snowman, with a Cubs logo on his front, came straight from Chicago.  Very sweet, but I’m not a Cubs fan.  So it’s on my dresser.  Sort of hidden.)

The Good

Texas Rangers L-O-V-E T-shirt by Majestic Athletic

$21.99

shop.mlb.com

I’m not usually into using something other than a team color to make a shirt more feminine, as I discussed here, but this one is just so adorable.  The pink makes sense, here.

San Francisco Giants Women’s “Get on Board” T-shirt

$21.99

shop.mlb.com

Aside from the giant faux-pas of using a font that is/resembles Curlz MT, which is almost as overused as Comic Sans (have I mentioned that I am a font geek?), I want this shirt now.  It’s unique and has a San Francisco flare which I love.

Ask Barry T-shirt

$35.4

zazzle.com

Back in the day, the story goes, Barry Zito and Barry Bonds had lockers next to each other and at Spring Training one year, they wore these t-shirts.  “Don’t Ask Me, Ask Barry” is a great way to answer people.  And an even better way to answer people is to, you know, point at your shirt.  So I want one.

Boelter San Francisco Giants Personalized Bowl

a. I will not pay 39.99 for a bowl.  b. Does it come with pretzels?  c.  PERSONALIZED BOWL? Not cool, darling people.  Not cool.

Pangea Texas Rangers ProToast Toaster

$34.99

shop.mlb.com

How do they come up with these things?  And I’m taking votes: who thinks they made a piece of toast with the “T” on it and who they thinks they just Photoshopped it in?  And why do they sell a Rangers toaster and not a Giants one?  Do they think people in Texas eat more toast?  Or people in San Fran are all on non-wheat diets?

So who went shopping this Friday and did you find anything incredible?  And what’s on your holiday wish list this year?

Will report on Day Two in Snowflake Earrings.

p.s.  Apologies for the oddness in the font, bolds etc.  MLBlogs is being a little weird.  I will try to fix it again later.

To Watchers of Glee and Why Diamond Girl is Disappearing to the Deserts of Africa (aka, NYC)

Sorry for the third person deal in the title, by the way.  It’s incredibly cheesy and corny but necessary in this situation.  Forgive me, please.

Graphic designer nightmare.  Those colors really clash.

Anyway, that was a good game.  A very good game.  I love it when they win low-scoring games, because that feels like the real Giants and if they’re going to win it all, I think that will be how.  (Not jinxing anything by saying that.  Can you even jinx something without believing in jinxes?)  But I was sort of annoyed the entire game because it was an afternoon game reportedly because of a Glee re-run this evening.  Glee re-run.  I’m not a Glee watcher or a Glee hater.  I am generally ambiguous on the topic.  But seriously.  Playoff baseball is important in a way Glee re-runs are not.  Just to add insult to injury the broadcasters kept hyping the show.  And the fact that a random football game got more TV viewers than a historical pitching matchup in a playoff game?  I’m not usually a confrontational person but I would like to confront people who watch football or Glee over baseball.

Anything can happen in baseball, obviously, and the Phillies and Yankees are far from eliminated, but who actually thought we might get a Giants vs. Rangers (and therefore Buster vs. Bengie) World Series, when Bengie got traded to an AL Team?  I think it crossed all our minds but we didn’t think it could really happen.  It could really happen.  And it is Totally Time for Texas, so…

Speaking of the Bronx Bombers, I’m heading out to Yankee Town (NYC)  tomorrow morning for a week and will have limited internet (aka, few or no blog posts) and probably no television (aka, I will not be able to watch games).  You would think I’m going to the desert in Africa or something, from that description, but I’m going to be living in the Stone Age in one of the world’s biggest cities.  Life is weird, sometimes.

Diamond Girl, rocking volumized hair in the Sahara Desert.

I’m planning to make the most of the trip and take a tour of Shea Stad–sorry, City Field. (Update: just realized that silly auto-correct changed it from Citi to City.  Yeah, I know it’s not spelled that way.  But instead of changing it I would like to display the beauty of auto-correct.  Observe and enjoy.)  I also may attempt to climb the fences of Yankee Stadium because they don’t do tours doing the postseason and I’m not buying tickets because I’m hoping to spend my life savings on something a little more worthy.  (What’s more worthy than MLB postseason tickets?  I’ll get back to you on that.)

If anyone has any on-topic (baseball related) or off-topic (not baseball related, ::cue gasps::)recommendations for places to go in NYC, feel free to leave ‘em in the comments.  And I will be back here to tell ya’ll about my idea for a Long Hair vs. Short Hair World Series, sooner or later.

X’s and O’s to all,
