First, a public service announcement. Trader Joe’s has Halloween Oreo cookies and they are orange and brown (which, hey, is pretty close to orange and black). They are absolutely fabulous and they’re also completely Giants-themed, so go out and buy them. That was the virtual equivalent of telling you all about the secret Louboutin sale, so you’re very welcome.
Now how about last night’s game? Some aliens who are actually pretty good at baseball seemed to steal the Giants away and play in their stead and it was awesome. They actually hit and the bullpen was spectacular because this bullpen is just spectacular, period, and Marco Scutaro was the greatest, even when he was kind of crushed at second base.
A word about that… I don’t think it was intentional from Holliday. It certainly wasn’t a clean play or an ideal play, but it looked like he genuinely slid wrong by accident, to me. Part of the reason I think that was just that it was a weird slide, it wasn’t what you usually see in a takeout/let’s-play-football! slide. I still did my Are You Serious eyebrow, because nobody messes with our Marco Scutaro, but I don’t completely blame Holliday. And retaliation? I hope not. I’m not ever for retaliation, frankly, and certainly not in this situation.
In other news, next time I’m in a pool, which I never am because I live in the Bay Area and it’s too damn cold all the time, I am totally playing Marco Scutaro rather than Marco Polo. Marco Polo did a lot of marvelous things, but nothing as marvelous as Marco Scutaro.
The series is tied and the Giants seem to like playing away from home (which is weird, but whatever), so I’m feeling a whole lot better about tomorrow. Not tomorrow’s start time – I’m still annoyed about that – but the game itself? Yes. Most definitely yes.

Your blog makes me feel connected to my beloved SF while I live far away. Thank you! …And
Let’s Go Gigantes!!
Thank you for reading! I’m so glad you enjoy it. Where do you hail from? Let’s go Gigantes, indeed!
Hail from Sonoma Co. Currently in Tennessee, where it is impossible to see Giants play unless it’s vs. the Braves. Le Sigh….
I feel you – being outside of orange and black territory is always hard. But good for you for representing the Giants over there!
