MLBlogs is going down for the weekend plus Monday tomorrow so I’m going to go really fast, because I can an irrational fear that it’s going to be working on second and then- poof!, it’ll go down. That’s probably not irrational, actually. That’s probably exactly how it’ll happen. But not until tomorrow. Breathe, Emily.
What are the Giants up to?
An, um, six game winning streak. I feel like I should whisper that because it feels a little tenuous and fragile, but it’s not really out of the blue or anything. Pieces have fallen into place and the crazy home crowds are working their magic (Is it totally 2010 to say It’s Magic Inside? Do I really have to say Together, We’re Suckers, or whatever lame slogan they have this year?).
And the Giants are in first place, a game on top of Colorado.
That is not tenuous. At all. Positive affirmation, remember?
The intriguing quote of the day, for me was from the Diamondbacks manager, Kirk Gibson “Those guys are world champions, and they showed it in this series. I feel like we got outplayed this series.” It’s funny to hear the manager of another team break out the World Champions thing, since that’s feels like it’s outspokenly bad form to bring that up in the Bay Area and really by this time of year, I think all of baseball is getting over last year. The comment was intriguing to me, I guess, because Gibson and the D-Backs faced the Giants down the stretch last year and I think the caliber of play the past several days has been up there.
Is that me being a total over-analyzer or is that kind of what he was saying?
Speaking of which. I’m back in San Fran and went peddle-boating in Golden Gate Park for a birthday today. I’d never even heard of the lake before but it was beautiful and there were the greatest turtles everywhere and afterwards at the boathouse I spotted this.
Giant aw. I love people who love the Giants.
